Ecomusée de Martinique

During your stay in Martinique, if you want to learn more about the history of the island, then you should go to the Ecomusée de Martinique. Discover more details about the place and where to rent a car to go there.

Created by the organization « Association Martiniquaise de Promotion et de Protection des Arts et Traditions Populaires » (A.M.P.A.T.P.), and inaugurated in 1993, the Ecomusée de Martinique is a museum telling the history of the island. Through explanatory signs, through antiques, through furniture of former days, and through staged scenes, the Ecomuseum tells the story of Martinique, from prehistory to present time, including the colonization and the 50s.

The place itself is to be seen. Indeed, the Ecomuseum was built within the distillery Ducanet (closed since 1924). It is there that we found vestiges of the first inhabitants of the island: the Arawaks.

The Ecomusée de Martinique is also a beautiful place because of its sea view and its heavenly location. The museum is indeed situated in Rivière-Pilote city, only a few meters away from the beach Anse Figuier
