Tchimbé Raid 2015

In a few days, there will be held the 18th edition of Tchimbé Raid*, an “ultra marathon” in the heart of Martinique’s nature. Find out the details of the event and where to rent a car to get there.

For the 18th year, Tchimbé Raid is back. This international trail is “a unique experience for any confirmed thrill seeking hikers, to discover Martinique differently”, says Club Tchimbé Raid behind the event.

The Tchimbé Raid 2015 will be held on the 2nd and 3rd of May, with a scheduled departure on Saturday the 2nd at midnight and a maximum authorized time of 36 hours. The route of this race (of 91 km and 4770 meters of accumulated elevation gain) will go through the north of Martinique.

The starting line will be at Le Prêcheur. The path will ensue a nocturnal ascent of Mount Pelee, a descent to Macabou, and a crossing through Basse-Pointe to Ajoupa-Bouillon. From there, the hikers will start the second part of Tchimbé Raid (called Tchimbé du Volcan) which will go through the river Le Lorrain, a passage in the heart of the rainforest, a suspension bridge and a wall, before arriving in the town of Schœlcher.

A little advice from RentaCar Martinique : rent a 4x4 to go to the starting line in Le Prêcheur and/or at the finishing line in Schœlcher, and also to visit Martinique differently.
